Artist Statement"My passion is people. Art to me is an expression of "being", an opportunity and a challenge to seek and perhaps share an essence of life. It is an exchange that flows from my mind onto the canvas. It helps me share in celebrating the personality and character of another being.
For me, Art is its own communication and is the greatest excuse in the world for me to study for the rest of my life! I work in oils; that is where my talent/love lies. Art exploration, and its gentile demand for participation, remains my driving force and my connection.
I am a member of the American Society of Portrait Artists. In both 2002 and 2003 I participated in the Boulder National Art Show and took first place in the members show in both years. In 2002, my painting 'Laura' was honored with The People's Choice Award in the Louisville National Art Show. In 2003 my painting titled 'Ida' won Best of Show in the Gilpin Art Association National Show. Also in 2003 and 2004 I had the honor of being featured in the Taos Society of Portrait Artists Annual Portrait Exhibition at the Millicent Rogers Museum. In June my painting 'Summer Reflections' placed first in oils in the national show for 2004 in the Gilpin Art Gallery in Central City and in September 'In The Land of Sweets' was awarded 'People's Choice' at the Art of Estes Park Gallery National Show.
My home and studio are near Nederland, Colorado. I find the wonderful natural light and awesome beauty to be perfect for painting."
